The Hong Kong Space Museum has been overlooking the Tsim Sha Tsui seaside for 45 years, since its opening in October 1980, and is committed to enhancing public understanding of astronomy and space science eversince its commencement.
Boasting the first OMNIMAX film projector in the eastern hemisphere, the Space Museum is also the world’s first planetarium to possess a fully automatic sky show control system. Since its commencement, the Space Museum has emerged as a vital local institution for astronomy in Hong Kong, hosting a diverse range of exhibitions and activities aimed at popularisation of astronomy and space science. During the 2023-2024 period, the Space Museum welcomed over one million visitors, a testament to the public's enduring fascination with astronomy.
Its iconic egg-shaped exterior remains steadfast amidst the changes over time, bringing generations of Hong Kong citizens together. This exhibition invites you to revisit the past, explore our 45 years of history, and share your own stories alongside this "Pineapple Bun" under the starry sky of Victoria Habour.
